SHOPPING

Carron is 10 minutes from the pretty village of Aberlour where there is a good range of shops and facilities, including a pub, cafes, min supermarket, baker, butcher, deli, craft and gift shops, chemist, new agent, a swimming pool, health centre and park.

Elgin is 20 miles away and has several of the major supermarkets, shops, restaurants, cinema, and leisure facilities including an ice rink and bowling alley.

A wide variety of eating establishments, from takeaways to good class hotels can be found in the area.

WALKING/CLIMBING

The Speyside Way long distance footpath is approximately 200m from the bungalow. Walk or climb in the spectacular Cairngorm mountains. Explore local country estates or the coastal paths of the Moray Firth.

WHISKY

The surrounding area is famous for the Malt Whisky Trail with many of the distilleries open to the public.

FISHING

There is salmon and trout fishing on lochs and rivers, including the nearby River Spey.

WILDLIFE

Visit the Moray coast and go dolphin spotting or see the Ospreys at the RSPB reserve in Boat of Garten. Alternatively you may see Roe deer, red squirrels, buzzards and pheasants from the comfort of the bungalow.

CASTLES

For the historically minded there are several castles to visit, some of which are in ruins, but many are still inhabited.

HIGHLAND GAMES

During the summer months local attractions include highland Games, galas and shows.
